Gym and Farmer’s Market

I was up at 5:45 and despite being super tired I refused to allow myself to go back to sleep for some reason.  I felt like I could’ve gone back to sleep but then I started thinking about what I needed to get done today and it was all over.

I did lay in bed to watch an episode of “House” (Reminder: I love that show and should watch more) but then it was time to start the day.  I wanted to try to beat the heat by getting my errands done early although I couldn’t believe it was already 75 degrees at 7 in the morning, very unusual for around here.

I always feel so proud of myself for doing errands that make me feel like I’m finally getting the hang of this “being an adult” thing.  I think part of it is I crave an element of normalcy in my life so when I do things like go to the gym and the Farmer’s Market I feel like I’m doing what normal people do.  It feels like the everyday or every weekend kind of things I want to continue to incorporate into my life once I find a job.

IMG_8822Today I went to the gym and it was great because there’s so much going on in the area plus it was Saturday morning so the gym was almost empty.  There were only 3 other people and they were all on cardio equipment.

The weight room was all mine!!!

I took full advantage setting up everything before I started working out (and sneaking a selfie or two).  It was awesome!  I figured worse case someone came in and I might have to share but no one did so it was like having my own little private gym for 30 minutes.  Just ignore the goofy look on my face 😛

From the gym I walked the half mile to the Farmer’s Market picking up a pint of raspberries, a dozen eggs, and some cherries all for just under $10.  I’m about 70% sure I will like the cherries but I’ve never really eaten fresh cherries so I’ll IMG_8831have to try them out.  I was super sad when I got home and realized I had accidentally smashed my raspberries 😥  I scooped out the smashed ones and will have to figure out something to do with them, probably eat them…lol

I’ve been craving fruit because it’s so hot but right now I have so much to eat up before it goes bad I’ll definitely be eating fruit with every meal and snacking.  I bought a little watermelon and cut it up last night because it’s great to have on hand for snacking.  Now I have blueberries, strawberries, cherries, raspberries, and watermelon.

I really wanted to get out to take some pictures today but it’s so hot there was no way I was going to try hiking somewhere so I went out behind my apartment complex to shoot some pictures of the wildflowers on the hill.  The featured picture is from that little venture.

I’m super tired and dealing with a bit of a headache today so I think the rest of my day will be filled with naps and Netflix.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!  If it’s like it is here stay cool and hydrated!

Raspberry brainstorm: Make Popsicles. Berry pie. Pork glaze. Or blend with honey or sugar for an ice cream sauce.
Side note, I should really take advantage of the farmer markets near me. It sounds like a good routine!

I ended up mixing them up with a bit of whipped cream, freezing it, then adding a bit of honey. It was an on-the-fly made up dessert but it was tasty, nice cold treat on a crazy hot day 😀
You should check out the farmers market. They’re usually about the same price as the grocery store. Also, they usually have a nice vibe, good people, local crafts, plus it’s nice to buy fresh, local ingredients.

Yaaay, you went to the gym! And too bad about those raspberries but I bet they’re still tasty.. DIf you have ice cream shapes you can put them in the freezer. 😀

I didn’t have ice cream shapes but I did stick them in the freezer just in a little plastic container and it was delicious! Thanks for the idea! 🙂
