My Muse-The Sun

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Muse.”

I was visiting my brother on the East Coast many years ago and as we were walking through Central Park he made a remark about my taking pictures of the sun.  For some reason the comment stuck with me probably because I continue to find myself taking pictures of the sun.

It serves as inspiration for many of my shots whether shining through tree branches or creating a stunning display of colors as it sets or rises I love the beauty of the sun.  For the challenge I decided to pick a few of my favorite sun shots from the archives and also one from this week.

This first shot is one of my all-time favorite captures taken in Central Park in NYC with my little Sony camera.  This next one is taken at Heron’s Hideout, which is one of my favorite walking spots.  On this day there was a rainbow around the sun, which I later learned is a sun halo.  It was so beautiful and framed perfectly with this great tree.  I love the next shot because it looks like the sun is hanging from the wire.  The last shot is from this week.  I love living in a place where I can basically walk outside my apartment and see an amazing sunset.  I’ve also started playing with editing more in my photography, which I’ve struggled with in the past because I want to stay true to the image.  I came to the conclusion though that photography is art and some editing serves to enhance the art.  This is another all-time favorite.
